A Fun Way to Burn Calories

Hula Hoop at gone forever weight loss

Today is a lovely near-summer day. Thinking back to when I was a girl gives me sweet memories of rollerskating all day long (OK during school holidays) , hula hooping and skipping. My girl friends and I would do that all day long, no wonder we all had such slim and strong bodies.

These thoughts made me start looking for my skipping rope. When I eventually found it in the bottom of a cupboard, it was worn out - but I did find the hula hoop I bought as an adult but had forgotten all about. I did a few rounds without much success - but after a few more goes I got the hang of it again.

My plan is to do 2 minutes hula hooping every 2nd hour of the day. It will not burn tons of calories but it will keep my metabolim working all day and that way I will burn more calories.

Hula facts: an adult female will burn approximately 450 kcal per hour .

Size does matter, don’t use a kid’s size hula hoop, an adult woman should use a 36 inch hula hoop or more:

Stand with your hoop in front of you. The general rule of thumb is that a hoop should be between stomach and nipple height, although some compensation should be made for your waist size. General rule of thumb: The bigger you are, the bigger the hoop should be. Larger hoops will rotate more slowly, making getting started easier. Smaller than that will make the hoop rotate faster, which is more challenging, but also better for doing tricks and exercizing.

When you eat a hamburger you take in a relatively high amount of fats and calories but only a very, very few of the vitamins and minerals essential for the good health of your body.

An occasional McDonald’s isn’t going to do you much harm, but eating regular hamburger meals is going to cause and imbalance and result in inches on your waistline.

It’s a question of nutritional balance. In order to function at its optimum level your body needs fats, carbohydrates and protein which provide it with energy in the form of calories; plus vitamins and minerals to strengthen your bones and muscles and repair your cell structures. McDonalds nutrition is not that healthy.

Why Hamburger Meals are NOT Good For You

Hamburger meals are relatively high in calories and low on essential vitamins and minerals. A plain ordinary 3.8 oz McDonald’s hamburger contains 250 calories. But the best selling Double Quarter Pounder® with Cheese++ contains 740 calories.

Two Double Quarter Pounder® with Cheese++ provide nearly all the calories an adult male requires to keep him going for an entire day.

A Double Quarter Pounder® with Cheese++ will give the diner a sudden injection of energy, which, if it is not burned off relatively quickly, will turn to fat on the waistline. The problem with these fast food calories is that they contain “bad” trans fats.

The waistline problem is exacerbated by the calorie content of the rest of a McDonald’s meal. A medium portion of French Fries adds another 380 calories. A side serving of Newman’s Own® Creamy Caesar Dressing = 190 calories.

A medium size Coca-Cola contributes a further 210 calories.

A Baked Apple Pie dessert will add 260 calories and a Strawberry Sundae would add 270 calories.

So 2 Double Quarter Pounders® with Cheese++, plus a side order of medium French Fries with Caesar Dressing, a medium Coco-Cola and a Baked Apple Pie would give you 2,520 calories in one meal. That is enough calories to last a grown man doing an ordinary job for an entire day.

The Problem is that’s Only One Meal!

Even if you stoke up like this once a day, you will still need to have breakfast, plus one other meal where you will consume even more calories. And if you don’t burn off those extra calories they will add to your waistline at an alarming rate.

Can you see now that eating meals that are high in calories and which contain virtually no vitamins and minerals is setting you on a slippery path to obesity?

A Seventeen Mile Walk Will Burn Those Calories

To burn off 2,520 calories you would need to walk nearly seventeen miles, according to a computation on calories burned walking worked out by Nutritionists in Great Britain. Don’t worry, seventeen miles is only about 34,000 steps. Considering that the average sedentary person averages under 3,000 steps a day do you think you could manage 34,000 steps?

It’s your body and you only get one in this life. If you look after it well it should give you a long and healthy life. Make it look good and it will attract other people to you. Feed it right and it will give you the energy and strength to achieve your dreams.

Diets suck!

Do you know that according to The National Institutes of Health, part of the US Department of Health and Human Services, 98% of people who lose weight on diets put it on again within a year?

That’s a depressing statistic.

However, it tells us quite clearly that diets don’t work. And it also tells us that we have to look for another way to lose weight. And I’m going to tell you about a much better way in just a moment, but first…

Why don’t diets work?

Well think about it, they’re painful. They deprive you of the things you love to eat and make you long to get back to the food you’re used to eating.

And that’s the problem, you just can’t wait to get back to normal eating. So, once you’re let off the diet leash you go rushing back to the food you love like a kid let out of school.

Round and round you go, diet and feast, diet and feast. And you will never break out of the pattern until you find a way to change what you love to eat.

It’s the foods you love to eat that are doing the damage

Yes, yes, I know about your hectic life style and your busy job and how you don’t have the time to cook proper meals. And I know how your kids love fast food and all the rest of the excuses, but…

Your ancestors lived very well on a completely different diet, and they didn’t have anything like the overweight problems we have in society today, because they ate healthy foods.

It does not have to be difficult to retrain your body to accept foods that will make the weight drop off. You can create a life-long love affair with tasty healthy food, if you will just give your body the chance to adapt.

A lot of healthy foods take very little preparation. You can eat them right off the tree or the supermarket shelf.

The “Whoopee” Anti-diet.

Nearly everyone who goes on a diet manages to lose some weight. And then they put it on again. Most often they put on more than they lost.

The National Institutes of Health and other studies show that 95-98% of people who lose weight gain it back within five years. Only 2-5% of dieters succeed in keeping their weight off. 90% of those gain back more weight than they lost. The failure of weight loss programs is so great that a leading researcher has said, “Dieting is the leading cause of obesity in the US.”

What the heck is going on? It’s my body, why shouldn’t I be able to make it the shape and size I want, within reason?

Why does it have to be so darned hard to lose a bit of weight and keep it off?

It doesn’t have to be hard.

The Problem is that when you diet you starve your body of some of the things it’s accustomed to; then, when you stop dieting your body says, “whoopee!” and immediately sets about eating foods that will fulfil it’s craving for what it’s been missing.

A Good Reason For Not Dieting To Lose Weight

It doesn’t matter what the diet is, whether it’s an all cheese diet or a soup diet or a grapefruit diet, and I’m sure they all work, short term, ask yourself this question: “can you imagine doing that for the rest of your life in order to maintain the weight loss?”

Bet you answered “no.”

The Autopilot Enemy Inside You.

You know how you do things on autopilot, like driving the car? I mean, when did you last think about which pedal to press or when to look in the rear-view mirror? You don’t think about these things, you just do them, on autopilot.

It’s the same with cleaning your teeth, you don’t need to think about it, you just do it.

And eating’s the same, you don’t think about eating, you just do it.
And you don’t think about what you eat, you just eat what you like.

All these autopilot activities are habits.

And once you’ve got a habit it’s darned hard to break. The enemy inside of you is the habit of eating things that cause you to gain weight.

That’s why diets don’t work, they don’t become a new habit. They just replace the old habit for a short time, while you’re on the diet. So, as soon as you end the diet, whoopee, you go back to your old eating habits.

I bet you can’t guess what the solution is?

Yes, you got it, you’ve got to change your eating habits.

Wow, that sounds even more difficult than sticking to a diet!

No, It Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult

52.4% of Americans who ever smoked have managed to quit. 832,700 Brits quit smoking between 2003/4 and 2005/6 according to the Government Health Service.

It is very difficult to find accurate statistics for the numbers who quit gambling and alcohol, but people do manage to change even these deeply ingrained habits.

So, it is possible to change deeply ingrained habits.

Here’s How You Can Lose Weight, Permanently

There are three basic steps to losing weight permanently.

But, before I tell you what they are, let me tell you the easy way to change habits permanently. I discovered this 28 years ago when I gave up smoking cigarettes, and I’ve never smoked another cigarette since.

Hypnosis

Now, don’t get nervous. Understand that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It is something you do to yourself, not something that anyone else does to you. And that is the BIG secret. It means that, once you have learned to hypnotise yourself, you can use it to help you at any time, in any situation (except when driving a motor vehicle or operating a machine).

With the help of hypnosis you can change your attitude to food, get to like different foods and you can even lose your taste for certain foods that may be causing you difficulties. For instance I don’t like sugar in my tea and coffee any more. I really dislike it, yuk!

Just pause for a moment and imagine the difference it would make to your body if instead of eating fast food you ate healthy, natural foods with great nutrition value.

Then you could develop a real liking for weight loss exercises.

And finally, and perhaps most important of all, you could develop a mind like a steel trap.

5 Secrets of Permanent Weight Loss

To succeed in losing weight permanently you’ve got to use:

Your imagination – to visualise your body as it will be when you reach your target.

Self-Discipline – to make sure you stick to your regimes.

Relaxation – to feel good about what you’re doing.

Good Nutrition – for hunger control, weight loss and energy.

Exercise – to reshape and tone up your body.

And you can do all that EASILY! All you have to do is program your mind correctly and constantly until a new way of thinking becomes your habit.

Once you have programmed your autopilot to do the things that will allow you to follow a new regime you will start a whole new life.

Some Questions That Worry People Unnecessarily

Will I lose my friends if I change my habits?

Not if you don’t want to. Your friends will still be your friends. Some may dessert you because they’re jealous of your new figure. And you may not want to accompany others to evil smelling fast food joints.

Will other people be able to take advantage of me when I am hypnotised?

No, you will always have choice about what you do.

Does it take long to learn to hypnotise myself?

No, you can learn very quickly. However, it is very important to learn the suggestions and images that you need to give yourself in order to use your self-hypnosis to achieve satisfactory weight loss.

Will I lose weight quickly?

You will lose some weight quickly, that will be mainly water. The objective here is not speed, it is to achieve lasting results. It will take time, but there is a lot to do. You could not rebuild a house in a few days and, in the same way, you cannot rebuild your body quickly. However, you will enjoy the experience and you will be pleased with the results.

How long will each session last?

Each teaching video will last for approximately 10 minutes. You can play them as often as you wish.

Weight Loss Foods Lost

Britons throw away 4.4 million apples every day. This amounts to 179,000 tonnes a year, according to a survey carried out by the Waste Resources Action Programme which was reported in The Times today, 8th April.

Now, if an apple a day really does keep the doctor away, this statistic may account, at least in part, for the rise in the numbers of overweight and obese citizens.

From a weight loss point of view the figure speaks of a serious failure of people to eat the foods that would help them lose weight. This research shows that nearly a third of all apples bought are simply thrown away.

So people are buying the right food but not eating it.

Take a look at these figures of discarded fruit and vegetables:

5.1 million potatoes a day
2.8 million tomatoes a day
1.6 million bananas a day
1.2 million oranges a day
4.4 million apples a day

Total 15.1 million items of fresh fruit and vegetables discarded each day by a population of 61 million people.

That means 1 out of every 4 people is throwing away a valuable food item every day of the week.

With figures like this is it any wonder that 46% of men and 32% of women in the UK are considered to be overweight.

Overweight = Body Mass Index 25-30.

Additionally 17% of men and 21% of women are considered obese.

Obese = Body Mass Index over 30.

The percentage of obese adults in the UK has doubled since the mid 80’s.
